Nautical Calipso Wedding Deocoration + DIY Shells Bridal Bouquet

Oh destination weddings, why do you tease us so? You combine two of our most favorite things – absolutely FAB weddings and exotic locales. A double whammy that leaves us in a wedding and vacation induced haze. Thank goodness we have our  Caribbean Wedding Blog, filled to the brim with destination weddings just like this. Take a holiday and visit the gallery bellow.

From Caribbean Wedding: we wanted the wedding to be elegant and an authentic expression of the couple: Ilya and Anastasia.  The bride  went through countless magazines and blogs for ideas, being kept seeing seaside weddings that felt very “preppy-nautical,” but this just didn’t feel like the right fit for us”, – said Anastasia.  Caribbean Wedding decorators team had to work hard  to give the seaside theme a different twist, so we chose a soft romantic color palette based on bride’s shell collection and a few old sea glass bottles  – and then punctuated it with navy accents.

From the Bride… Ilya and I knew we wanted a destination wedding before we were even engaged. We visited Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on a last minute mini vacation back in 2013 and absolutely fell in love with the area’s pristine beaches, lush jungles and vibrant culture. That trip was the beginning of the couple we are today and has always held a special place in our hearts. We knew we had to say our vows with the ocean as our backdrop, and Cap Cana Beach became the perfect choice. After scouring the internet, we found the lovely and talented ladies of The Caribbean Wedding, their services and the venue were booked before Ilya even popped the question!

For my bouquet, I created some sea shells and  flowers by adhering small light blue petal-shaped shells to pearl bead centers and then mounted each one to a separate wire to incorporate them into the feather- fringed fresh floral bouquet.

Our wedding day was nothing short of spectacular! As I look back on it all I can’t say enough great things about our photographer, Nik Vaccum.  He captured every moment, and all of the details with tireless enthusiasm and patience.  We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out!
